Casella Microtherm WBGT heat stress meter
The Microtherm WBGT meter from Casella CEL is an ergonomically designed, compact and rugged instrument developed to monitor the heat stress of personnel in hot working environments in accordance with ISO 7243. It is the first heat stress meter to offer real-time graphical display of data and it also features an audible/visual alarm, allowing the user to make quick decisions where necessary. PC software for data analysis is included.
The Microtherm WBGT meter has a large 128 x 64 pixel graphical LCD screen with backlighting that can display data in two modes:
1. Graphical display
The Microtherm WBGT is the first area heat stress instrument to offer a real-time scrolling graph of the temperature parameters being measured. This display can be shown over variable periods of 15, 30, 60 and 120 minutes. This allows the user to assess how the environment changes over time without having to download to a PC.
2. Numerical values
Instantaneous values are shown for all parameters, combined with the running hourly averages.
The Microtherm heat stress meter also has an alarm function. An alarm threshold can be set for one selected data channel: WBGT twa, WBGT, Ta or OFF. An audible alarm and a flashing visual message on the display screen warn that the threshold has been exceeded.
