Vibration in the workplace falls under European health and safety directives. As an employer you are obliged to measure whether employees are exposed to harmful vibration levels. Depending on the situation, you measure whole-body vibration, hand-arm vibration or seat vibration.
For measuring whole-body vibration for drivers or machine operators, for example, you can choose with us between the Svantek SV 106D or a sensor such as the Vib@Work Seat. Whereas the Vib@Work SEAT specialises in whole-body vibration, the SV 106D can be used for both whole-body vibration and hand-arm vibration. Both offer extensive analysis options for accurate risk assessment.
When working with hand tools such as breakers or drills, hand-arm vibration is an important point of attention. For this you use, among others, the Svantek SV 103, the Vib@Work HA, or again the SV 106D mentioned earlier.
SBR: measuring vibration on buildings and structures
Besides occupational safety, vibration measurement is also used to monitor structural safety. Think of measuring vibration caused by heavy traffic, pile driving, demolition work or construction activities near vulnerable buildings. By monitoring this vibration you can prevent damage and comply with local or project requirements, such as the SBR guidelines.
The Svantek SV 803 SBR was developed specifically for continuous monitoring according to the SBR-A and B guidelines. This rugged system is ideal for long-term installations on construction sites, along railways or at infrastructure projects. The data can be analysed and reported automatically, which saves a lot of time.
Measuring vibration on machines and installations
Vibration measurements on machines are often carried out as part of predictive maintenance. By mapping vibration behaviour at an early stage, you can detect faults in bearings, motors or pumps before damage or downtime occurs.
