When you want to locate a noise leak, mechanical defect or unwanted noise emission quickly and accurately, an acoustic camera is the answer. Unlike traditional measuring methods, an acoustic camera gives you an immediate visual image of sound, ideal for troubleshooting, maintenance or validating noise reduction measures.
An acoustic camera combines a microphone array (dozens of microphones in a circle or pattern) with an optical camera. While the microphones measure sound pressure from different directions, the camera determines exactly where the sound comes from and projects this in real time onto a screen as a "heat map of sound".
This shows you precisely where a sound originates, for example a leak in a pipe, a squeaking bearing or a knocking fan blade. It even works in environments with a lot of background noise, because the system is directional and focuses on the source frequency.
The result: less guesswork, no endless searching, but immediate insight into the problem. And that makes an acoustic camera a powerful tool for inspection as well as preventive maintenance. Typical applications of an acoustic camera are:
Compact, handy models with high accuracy are perfectly suited to tracing compressed air or gas leaks in complex installations or production lines. Think of maintenance teams who want to walk quickly through a factory and detect leaks visually along the way. In that case you rent a lightweight acoustic camera with real-time visualisation, such as the CRY2620 or CRY2623.
When detecting mechanical wear at an early stage, such as in bearings or drives, an acoustic camera helps to recognise abnormal frequency patterns – often before traditional vibration measurements signal anything. For this kind of predictive maintenance you rent a versatile acoustic camera with high resolution and extensive analysis capabilities, such as the CRY8124 or CRY8125.
In industrial environments where continuous noise monitoring is required – for example to detect exceedances of standards or nuisance – a fixed-mounted acoustic camera is the right choice. These models can be installed permanently at a location and issue notifications as soon as noise sources move outside the desired values. A fixed set-up such as the CRY2623M is then ideal.
Sometimes the source of a sound is physically difficult to approach, for example at height or inside a closed installation. In such cases an acoustic camera on a drone is the answer. This solution is highly suitable for inspections of roofs, industrial installations or infrastructure. The CRY2626G Drone has been designed specifically for this type of aerial measurement.
Not sure which acoustic camera is suitable for your project? Our specialists are happy to think along with you. Whether you are carrying out an inspection in a factory, tracing noise leaks or want to set up fixed monitoring, we make sure you rent the right solution for your application.
