WatchGas Ball Float
The WatchGas Ball Float is an accessory that comes in handy during clearance measurements of confined spaces. Under Article 3.5g of the Dutch Working Conditions Decree it is mandatory to carry out investigations in spaces where there is a risk of asphyxiation, narcosis, poisoning, fire or explosion. A pumped gas detector is the most suitable instrument for this, so that you can investigate the space you wish to enter from a safe environment.
To do so, you connect a length of tubing to your pumped gas detector in order to actively draw in air and measure the gas values. However, in some cases - think of sewers, silos, manure cellars, shipping - you run the risk of liquids and dirt entering the tube through its open end. Drawing in liquid can be disastrous for your gas detector. It can also affect your results and render them unusable, which in all cases leads to delays in the work.
Ball floats are a perfect solution to prevent liquids and dirt from being drawn in through the sampling tube. The WatchGas Ball Float can be compared to a fishing float. When you lower the ball float, it will float as soon as it comes into contact with liquid. Naturally, the ball float is designed so that gases can still be actively drawn in afterwards.
WatchGas has completely redeveloped the ball float in order to make it suitable in every way for
harsh conditions. The ball float is made from a single piece, making it stronger and
more durable than floats made from two glued halves. The material is resistant to chemicals, antistatic and non-adsorbing, so that it does not influence your measurement. In addition, the bright yellow colour ensures optimum visibility, even in conditions with very little light.
