The EXO 8 from Blackline Safety is the world's first portable, internet-connected area monitor capable of detecting up to eight gases as well as gamma radiation. The result is the most robust protection against hazards and an early warning of risks in the workplace. All in a rugged, easy-to-carry device with a battery life of up to 100 days. The addition of a gamma radiation sensor offers a safety advantage in scenarios involving nuclear risks and hazardous materials.
Thanks to a direct cloud connection (via 3G/4G), users can manage the EXO 8 remotely in real time. This connection ensures that both measurement data and alarms are immediately available to colleagues, contributing to a fast and efficient response in situations where safety is at stake. The cloud integration also provides rapid insights for incident management and after-the-fact analysis, which helps reduce future risks and improve operational safety.
The EXO 8 has a maximum battery life of up to 100 days in diffusion mode, making it suitable for long-term deployment at remote locations without access to a power supply. The device is ready to use straight away thanks to its “plug and play” installation, which is valuable for both routine and ad-hoc deployment.
The device is also designed for rugged use and withstands harsh conditions. It has a sturdy aluminium frame surrounded by a rubber housing. This makes the device suitable for industries such as construction and heavy industry, where it must remain reliable even in extreme conditions.
EXO is supplied with AlertLink, which shares real-time warnings with active devices nearby (other G7C gas detectors and EXOs) during highly urgent events, such as high gas concentrations, high gamma concentrations, or no-movement/man-down alarms.
The AlertLink function is designed to improve communication and emergency response for EXO and G7 devices. It ensures that real-time notifications about potential hazards can be shared with other users nearby, up to a distance of 5000 metres.
When one of the Blackline devices in a region detects a critical event, such as high gas concentrations, a man down or an SOS signal, a warning is immediately sent to other devices within range. This system enables employees to respond more quickly to dangerous situations and facilitates evacuations by sharing real-time information with both the employees involved and the monitoring teams. This provides an extra layer of protection, alongside standard monitoring, and contributes to a safer workplace.
The Blackline Safety EXO 8 is equipped with advanced communication features, including a two-way voice connection. This allows users to communicate with monitoring personnel, even when they are in different locations.
In addition, the EXO 8, like all other Blackline Safety equipment, can receive SMS notifications from monitoring personnel. They can respond with a single press of a button (using pre-programmed replies), so team members are quickly informed of potential hazards, emergencies or false alarms.
The EXO 8 can also be equipped with a Push-to-Talk function, which enables users to communicate with each other quickly and easily by simply pressing a button (like a two-way radio). This facilitates direct communication without the need for a lengthy phone call, which is essential in a busy or hazardous working environment.
Finally, the EXO 8 can receive evacuation notifications sent by monitoring personnel to all Blackline devices. This ensures that all employees, wherever they are, are immediately aware of an evacuation and can take the necessary steps. This kind of coordinated communication is crucial to safeguarding staff safety during emergencies such as gas leaks.
