The Svantek SV 93 tapping machine is an advanced sound source used for impact sound, mainly in building acoustics. The device simulates impact sound by means of mechanical hammers that strike the floor in a controlled manner. This type of measurement is crucial for determining the sound insulation between floors and assessing the acoustic performance of floors in buildings. The device is designed in accordance with international standards such as ISO 10140, which prescribes the procedure for measuring sound insulation, as well as other standards such as ISO 140-6/-7, ISO 16283-2, ISO 717-2 and DIN 52210.

The SV 93 is equipped with five mechanical hammers that tap rhythmically on the floor using an electromagnetic lifting system, with each hammer delivering a controlled blow. This simulates the effect of footsteps or other impact sounds that are normally transmitted through a floor to the room below. The hammers strike at a frequency that is usually adjustable, which helps to simulate different types of impact sound.

The device runs on mains power or a built-in battery that lasts 1 hour. The standard SV 93 impact sound source kit contains five steel hammers, a floor cover, a 433.92 MHz wireless remote control set, a Ni-MH battery pack with a 5-metre AC cable and a carrying case.
