TSI 5200 Thermal Mass Flow Calibrator
The TSI 5200 is an advanced flow calibrator used to measure gas flows based on the thermal mass flow principle. This makes it possible to carry out accurate and reliable flow measurements, regardless of pressure or temperature. TSI low-flow meters serve as a flow reference for calibrating air sampling equipment, but can also be used for various other low-flow applications.
The TSI 5200 is a versatile low-flow calibrator that not only records gas flow accurately, but can also measure and display several other important parameters. In addition to measuring gas flow rate, the instrument can monitor temperature, absolute pressure, volume and humidity.
The accurate measuring principle of the TSI 5200
The TSI 5200 uses a thermal sensor that measures the heat transfer to the gas flow. This technique is highly effective because the measurement relates directly to the mass of the gas flowing through the sensor rather than to volumetric values. This makes the TSI 5200 ideal for applications where a constant temperature or pressure cannot be guaranteed.
For forward flow the accuracy is ±2% of the measured value or 0.005 L/min, whichever of the two is greater. This means that, especially at low flow rates, the minimum deviation can be as small as 0.005 litres per minute, which makes the meter extremely suitable for accurate measurements, for example during the calibration of your low-flow air sampling pump. The TSI 5210 also offers excellent accuracy when calibrating your air sampling pump, for example at a flow rate of 2 litres per minute. With a deviation of ±2% it stays well within the permitted standard.
For reverse flow, where the gas moves in the opposite direction, the accuracy is slightly lower. Here an accuracy of 3% of the measured value or 0.01 L/min applies, again whichever is greater. This specification is still precise enough for many industrial applications in which the direction of the gas flow may vary. The measuring range runs from 0 to ±30 Std L/min (standard litres per minute), making it suitable for a wide range of gas flows.
The instrument has an extremely fast response time of 4 milliseconds to reach 63% of the full reading. This means that within this very short time the meter is able to record a substantial part of the final reading.
Another important aspect is the low pressure drop of the system, which means that the meter has little impact on the gas flow. This is an essential characteristic for applications where maintaining pressure and energy efficiency are very important. The TSI 5200 is also robustly built and designed for long-term use, with minimal maintenance requirements.
