WatchGas SST5 - Personal 5-gas detector
The WatchGas SST5 is a compact, rugged 5-gas detector for personal gas detection in industrial and working environments. Despite its small size, the SST5 can measure up to five gases simultaneously with extensive alarm and logging functions. The SST5 is around 40% smaller and 25% lighter than many comparable 5-gas detectors, so it can be worn comfortably in the breathing zone without restricting freedom of movement. At the same time, the device is designed for harsh conditions and has an IP65/IP68 rating for protection against dust and water.
How does the WatchGas SST5 work?
The SST5 uses electrochemical, catalytic and infrared sensors to detect toxic and explosive gases. Depending on the configuration, the following gases can be measured, among others:
- oxygen (O₂)
- carbon monoxide (CO)
- hydrogen sulphide (H₂S)
- sulphur dioxide (SO₂)
- ammonia (NH₃)
- chlorine (Cl₂)
- nitric oxide (NO)
- nitrogen dioxide (NO₂)
- hydrogen cyanide (HCN)
- combustible gases (%LEL)
The detector shows all gases simultaneously on its large illuminated display. Readings can be shown in ppm, mg/m³, %LEL or %VOL depending on the sensor type. If the set alarm values are exceeded, the SST5 immediately activates a loud 95 dB acoustic alarm combined with a visual and vibrating alarm. The device also supports configurable: low alarms, high alarms, STEL alarms and TWA alarms.
