The Svantek SV 90/103 250mm Omnidirectional Sound Source is a dodecahedron sound generator used in acoustic research and noise measurements. This type of device is designed to distribute sound evenly in all directions (omnidirectionally), which is essential for accurate noise measurements and simulations.
An optimal test of acoustic insulation can only take place with the right tools. Designed in accordance with the international standards ISO 140, ISO 354, ISO 10140, ISO 52210 and ISO 3382 that apply to this kind of measurement. An omnidirectional sound source (dodecahedron speaker) with 12 loudspeakers to carry out the tests at high power.
This omnidirectional sound source is used mainly in building acoustics, for example for measuring sound insulation between rooms, reverberation times and sound transmission in various environments such as offices, homes and other buildings. The device is also sometimes used for environmental acoustic studies, such as testing sound transmission in the open air or inside large halls. The SV 90/103 distributes sound evenly in all directions. This makes it possible to obtain measurement results that do not depend on the orientation of the source.
The remote control makes it possible to operate the SV 90/103 from a distance, which is useful when the source is in a different room from the sound level meter. This removes the need to walk to the device every time an adjustment is required, which is especially handy in larger buildings or across multiple rooms. The device also has a built-in rechargeable battery, allowing the SV 90/103 to work without mains power. This is useful in situations where no direct power supply is available.
Reverberation time is an important parameter in the acoustics of a room. It describes how long it takes for a sound, once it has stopped, to decay by 60 decibels (dB). A room with a long reverberation time (a church or a sports hall, for example) has a long reverberating sound, which can cause unclear speech and difficulties in understanding sound. Reverberation time can also be important for reducing the sound level. In a large room, a long reverberation time can result in a very high sound level. A short reverberation time may be desirable in rooms where clear speech or music is essential, such as meeting rooms, classrooms or recording studios.
To determine the reverberation time accurately, a special device is needed to create a uniform sound source that distributes the sound evenly through the room. The Svantek SV 90/103 is an excellent choice for this.
