SV 106D Monitor for Hand-Arm and Whole-Body Vibration

The SV 106D is an advanced measuring instrument for measuring exposure to hand-arm vibration or whole-body vibration. Hand-arm vibration occurs when one or both of a worker's upper limbs are in contact with vibrating hand tools, such as hand-held power tools, pneumatic drills, vibrating machinery, steering wheels and levers used to operate vehicles. Hand-arm vibration measurement centres on the vector sum of tri-axial vibration, denoted as ahv, which forms the basis for calculating the daily exposure A(8). Thanks to the tri-axial accelerometer and the 'force detection', the SV 106D can automatically measure the period during which the hand is in contact with the vibrating surface, and evaluate the total contact time per day.

In addition to hand-arm vibration, the SV 106 can also measure whole-body vibration. This refers to vibration transmitted to the human body through the feet of a standing person, the buttocks, back and feet of a seated person, or the supporting area of a person lying down. This type of vibration occurs in vehicles such as forklift trucks, in machinery or in buildings. The evaluation of vibration in accordance with ISO 2631 is based on measurements of the Root Mean Square (RMS) of the vibration acceleration and can be measured with the SV 106D. Whole-body vibration measurement is made easy thanks to the SV 38V seat accelerometer, which can be placed directly on the seat cushion or the floor, or attached to the back of the seat.
