LSI Heat Shield WBGT heat stress meter

The LSI Heat Shield measures heat stress in WBGT (Wet Bulb Globe Temperature), a more comprehensive measurement than the Heat Index. In a compact and robust system, Heat Shield integrates dry bulb/wet bulb/globe temperatures and relative humidity sensors to display and store online WBGT indoor and outdoor index, heat index and Humidex measurements. Heat Shield is available with a globe diameter of 5 cm or 15 cm. The Heat Shield is an essential measuring instrument for monitoring heat stress, for safety experts and occupational hygienists working in occupational health, environmental safety and industrial hygiene.

Why measure WBGT?

Ambient heat is more than just temperature. Four factors contribute to the heat that employees experience:

1. Air temperature.
2. Relative humidity. High relative humidity makes it difficult for the body to cool itself by sweating.
3. Radiant heat from sunlight. But also from other heat sources such as furnaces.
4. Air movement. In most situations the wind helps to cool employees down.

Using a WBGT meter, the above parameters can be measured in accordance with ISO7243.
