Whether you want to assess building acoustics, carry out a sound insulation measurement or evaluate the acoustics of a room: renting a sound source is essential for reliable and reproducible measurement results. At BaSystemen you do not simply pick any source — we first look at your application, so that you get the right equipment in your hands.
Below you will find the most common applications, and which sound sources suit them best.
Using a standardised sound source is crucial in acoustic testing. You use these sources for, among other things:
Airborne sound measurements: for example between flats or office spaces.
Impact sound measurements: such as footfall noise through floors or stairs.
Reverberation time measurements: to determine how quickly sound decays in a room.
Validation of sound insulation: for new builds, renovations or quality checks.
By renting a sound source, you do not have to invest in expensive equipment yourself. Especially if you carry out measurements occasionally or run temporary measurement campaigns, renting is an efficient and cost-effective solution. Whether it concerns an acoustic survey in a home, office building, hotel or educational building: we supply professional sound sources that meet the requirements of ISO 16283 and ISO 140.
Would you like to know, for instance, how well sound is insulated between two flats, classrooms or hotel rooms? Then you need an omnidirectional loudspeaker that produces a wide and even sound field.
For standard situations such as homes or smaller office spaces, a lightweight sound source with amplifier is sufficient, such as the Svantek SV 90/103 Omnidirectional Sound Source. It is easy to transport and set up, and delivers a powerful signal for accurate measurements.
For larger rooms or environments with a lot of background noise (such as schools or commercial buildings) we recommend a more powerful loudspeaker such as the Svantek SV 90/303 Omnidirectional Sound Source which can handle higher sound pressure levels, so that your measured values remain reliable over longer distances too.
When testing impact sound — such as footfall noise through a concrete floor or the clicking of heels on a staircase — you do not need a speaker but a mechanical impact sound source, such as the Svantek SV 93 Tapping Machine. It simulates typical footfall noise in a standardised way.
In most cases a tapping machine is used for this, with five hammers striking the floor in a synchronised pattern. This source complies with international standards and is suitable for new-build homes, flats and hotels, among others.
On harder surfaces or heavier structures (e.g. industrial floors), an impact ball such as the Svantek SP 95 Impact Ball can offer a solution. It simulates a heavier form of impact — for example dropping heavy objects.
When you want to know how sound spreads through a room — for educational institutions, meeting rooms or theatres, for example — you use a broadband sound source to determine the reverberation time. This source produces a wide sound spectrum and shows how quickly sound decays in a room.
For precise measurements we recommend an omnidirectional speaker with amplifier that is suitable for a broadband signal or pink noise. This combination ensures an even distribution of sound in all directions, which is crucial for accurate acoustic analysis.
Below are some of the sound sources we can offer based on your situation:
Lightweight speaker + amplifier → suitable for airborne sound measurements in homes
Powerful speaker + amplifier → for airborne sound in larger or noisier environments
Tapping machine → for impact sound measurements in accordance with ISO standards
Impact ball → for impact sound on hard or heavy floors
All sound sources at BaSystemen are professionally calibrated, well maintained and ready for immediate use. Whether you measure occasionally or carry out acoustic projects regularly — we provide the right tool for your application.
Our experts are happy to think along with you: what kind of source do you need, how much sound pressure is required, and is additional measuring equipment necessary? We also offer complete measurement sets with source, microphone, tripod and software.
