Sorbent Tube - XAD
XAD resin is a hydrophobic organic porous polymer. These tubes are used to measure the average concentration of potentially harmful vapours in the air over a defined sampling period. Before use, the tube is connected to a small vacuum pump that draws air through the tube at a precise flow rate for a set period. Once the sample has been taken, the tube is sent to a laboratory where the absorbent XAD resin can be removed and analyses carried out to determine the amount of chemical collected, from which a time-weighted average (TWA) can be derived.
The XAD-7 tubes are suitable for measuring the air concentration of chemicals including cresol, phenol, pyridine and tetraethyltin.
The XAD-2 tubes can be used to carry out measurements on chemicals including polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons (PNA), polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH), pentachlorobenzene, polychlorobenzenes, hexachlorobutadiene, nicotine, 1,2,4,5-tetrachlorobenzene, 1,2,4-trichlorobenzene, anisidine, Demeton, hexachlorobutadiene, tetramethyl lead, methyl and ethyl methacrylate.
The XAD-2 tubes treated with 2- Hydroxymethyl piperidine are used to measure the air concentration of chemicals including acrolein, aldehyde screening, Formaldehyde, Furfural, Phosgene and Valeraldehyde.
