The UPAS v2.1 PLUS offers occupational hygienists and safety experts an advanced and versatile solution for measuring personal exposure to air pollution in the workplace. The UPAS v2.1 PLUS is equipped with a range of advanced sensors that can measure a wide variety of environmental parameters. The device contains a particulate matter sensor (Sensirion SPS30) for measuring the concentration of PM2.5, respirable dust and PM10 particles in the air, and a CO₂ sensor (Sensirion SCD41) that monitors the carbon dioxide concentration. In addition, it can be fitted with sensors for volatile organic compounds (tVOC) and a sensor for nitrogen oxides (NOx). There are also sensors for light intensity (including UV radiation), air pressure, temperature, humidity and movement. This combination of sensors enables the device to accurately record both air quality and environmental factors, including location data via GPS.
The UPAS v2.1 PLUS uses its integrated sensors in combination with a GPS module and time logging to gather detailed information about exposure levels in relation to time and location. The particulate matter sensor measures the concentration of dust particles in the air, for example, while the GPS location links every measurement to a specific place. Using time logging, the air quality measurements are accurately synchronised with specific working hours or activities, which helps occupational hygienists to identify exposure patterns throughout the day. This makes it possible not only to monitor air quality in real time, but also to gain insight into the specific moments and locations where exposure to harmful substances is greatest.
This time- and location-based data can then be analysed to assess the effectiveness of ventilation systems, identify dangerous hotspots in the workplace and take preventive measures to reduce employees' exposure to hazardous substances.
