SV 977D – Class 1 sound and vibration level meter

The SV 977D is an advanced class 1 sound and vibration level meter, developed for accurate measurements in building acoustics, working environments and environmental monitoring. Thanks to the combination of sound, ultrasound and vibration measurements in one rugged device, the SV 977D is a versatile solution for professionals who need extensive analysis functionality in a single compact unit.

Operation and applications

The device comes as standard with a ½” MK 255 microphone, which covers a frequency range from 3 Hz to 20 kHz and offers excellent stability. For specific applications, such as ultrasound analysis in industrial or medical contexts, the meter offers a measuring range up to 40 kHz.

The SV 977D records both sound and vibration. Combined with a vibration sensor, the system complies with ISO 20816-1 as a Class 1 vibration meter. The device supports 1/1 and 1/3 octave band analysis, real-time spectrum measurement and time-domain recording in WAV format, enabling detailed post-processing in software such as SvanPC++.

The SV 977D compared with the SVAN 979 or SV 971A

Choose the SVAN 979 instead of the SV 977D if you:

• Need to measure even lower sound levels (such as in studios or quiet environments). The SV 977D has a measuring range of 16 dBA – 140 dBA Peak, whereas the SVAN 979 achieves an even lower range from 12 dBA – 140 dBA Peak. 

• Need more detailed spectrum analysis such as 1/6 or 1/12 octave bands

• Want to carry out tonality analysis or other specialised acoustic parameters

Choose the SV 971A if you:

• Only carry out basic sound measurements (e.g. for occupational health and safety or machine inspections), and have no need for vibration and/or ultrasound.
