The SV 973A is a class 2 sound level meter, optimised for versatile noise measurements in workplaces and environmental monitoring, whereas the SV 971A is a class 1 sound level meter, suitable for applications requiring higher precision, such as building acoustics and sound insulation measurements. For building acoustics measurements according to ISO 1683 and the associated measurement standards, a class 1 microphone is mandatory. A class 2 microphone does not actually meet the accuracy requirements.
